Video Analysis: Pork and Beans
It has been awhile since I have posted a video review and I am way overdue for another one. So without further ado, I bring you my analysis of Weezer’s fantastic video "Pork and Beans".
This video is an excellent summary of the last decade of Internet memes; I counted fourteen of them and I am sure that I missed a couple as they were going by so fast. Some of these are more obscure than others, but almost everyone who has been on YouTube in the last ten years should at least recognize "All Your Base are Belong to Us" and "Will it Blend?".
Many of the people involved with these memes actually made appearances for the video including Tay Zonday and Gary Brolsma (the guy who chair dances to "Dragostea Din Tei"). These appearances are much better than using clips from the video as they are presented as lip-syncing the song instead of having their mouths not matching the words. Speaking of Gary Brolsma, the video producer was a genius for having one of his scenes during the line "everyone likes to dance to a happy song" as his smiling face while chair dancing fits this sentiment extremely well.
I will not bore you with too many details as the video can speak for itself. But I will say that it is good to know that the people involved with these Internet memes don’t take themselves too seriously and were up for assisting with the parodies of their videos. It is too bad that many people in the world do not have a similar mindset.
